CLASS SUMMARY
Under close supervision, perform routine and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of airport electrical systems, facilities and equipment. Operates a variety of vehicles and hand and power tools. Assists journey-level craft and trade personnel. An apprentice is enrolled in an apprenticeship program to learn the tools and skills necessary to become a certified/licensed journeyman electrician. As an apprentice, receives a combination of classroom education and paid on-the-job
experience. This position assists with snow removal operations on varying shifts, based on operational needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties in maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, instruments and structures.
• Performs preventative maintenance on, maintains, install, modifies & repairs motors, high voltage vaults, transformers, insulators, switches, switching gear, emergency generators, relays, circuit breakers and other electrical components of the lighting and mechanical systems in all airport related facilities.
• Assists and works with journey-level craft and trade personnel including Electricians and Technicians.
• Operates a variety of light and medium duty motorized maintenance and construction equipment, including scissor and boom lifts, forklifts and crane trucks.
• Maintains a safe, clean and orderly work environment.
• Assists in emergencies situations on CVG Airport property, as directed by supervisor.
• Assists in confined space entry, snow removal, operating heavy equipment, and data entry.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
• Cleans, maintains and organizes tools, equipment, and shop areas.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education: HSD/GED
Minimum Years of Direct Experience: 1, light maintenance experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Required
• Valid Drivers License.
• Maintain Security Identification Display Area Clearance (SIDA) clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain position appropriate Federal security clearance.
• Ability to acquire a Class A or B CDL.
• Acceptance of apprenticeship position is a permanent commitment through completion of the program.
• Must successfully complete apprenticeship with at least “Solid Performer” evaluation ratings to maintain employment in the position.
Additional Security Levels Required (Customs or Police Department) - Yes
Airfield Driving - This position requires driving on the airfield and airfield ramps.
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF
• Applicable OSHA safety standards, Airfield and FAA Regulations and other Federal, State and local regulations.
• Basic knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
• Personal protective equipment.
DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN
